Structure

ASD has recently undergone a major organisational audit, which led to changes in our structure. The ASD Statutory Bodies are still the General Assembly (joint meetings of the Council and Board), the Council (comprising the Presidents/CEOs of major member companies) and the Board (comprising the Presidents of the National Associations). The Council decides on the general policy of the Association and the Board is responsible for the administration of the Association.

The most noticeable audit result in regards to our organisation, is the eight new ASD Commissions, which ensure that ASD has the capacity to work with as many important industry issues as possible.  The Commissions in their turn are supported by several Working Groups. The Working Groups are either permanent or ad-hoc and they work in such areas as environment, airworthiness, quality, technical, economic, ATM etc.

The Co-ordination Group ensures that there is no overlap in the work done in the Commissions and the Working Groups.

The Sectoral Groups deal with the more focused sector interests, and their work is also used as a basis for the work of all eight Commissions.

The ASD Secretariat supports the Commissions and Committees and develops and maintains relationships with all external stakeholders.

ASD's affiliated associations ASD-CERT, -EASE, -PRO and -STAN, form the quality-related services of ASD. The purpose of these services is to contribute to improvements in quality and to reduction in costs throughout the value stream by maintaining cooperation between European Aerospace Companies in business areas.

Working bodies

The Commissions, Committees and Working Groups regularly gather industry representatives to pool their expertise to devise common solutions for the industry, and to provide advice to officials and authorities dealing with the industry.

The objective of the ASD Commissions is to identify policy issues to be pursued at European and Member State level and to propose strategies to maximise the benefits for the ASD industry.

The Committees and Working Groups focus on particular issues as their names suggest. They discuss the detailed topics, draft position papers and issue recommendations to the industry and other stakeholders.
