International collaborationASD Secretary General, Mr François Gayet, has been appointed as chairman of ICCAIA for a mandate of two years as from 2009. The Executive Secretary is Mr Riccardo Napolitano (ASD). The International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations (ICCAIA) was established in 1972 to provide the civil aircraft industry observer status as a means to be represented in the deliberations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The role of ICCAIA: a. Promote those technological advances necessary to support the achievement of safe and economical air transport. b. Represent the needs of its membership and the industry in respect of those national and international bodies responsible for aviation, in order to achieve aviation policies that promote a sustainable global economy. c. Maintain the industry's commitment to high standards of professional performance, integrity, fairness and reliability.
ASD and AIA have been cooperating for several years on matters of common interest in the domain of civil aviation. AIA, based in Arlington, USA is today composed of more than 100 major aerospace and defense companies are members of the association, embodying every high-technology manufacturing segment of the U.S. aerospace and defense industry from commercial aviation and avionics, to manned and unmanned defense systems, to space technologies and satellite communications
Business Ethics Principles It is recognized that operating to the highest ethical standards benefits all companies and society. We in the aerospace and defence industry fully acknowledge and support this principle. The Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA) and AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) have jointly developed these Global Principles of Business Ethics for the Aerospace and Defense Industry ("lobal Principles"). These Global Principles are based on best practices including the Common Industry Standards for European Aerospace and Defence and the Defense Industry Initiative on Ethics and Business Conduct in the US. The aerospace and defense industry's long term success depends on companies upholding integrity in bidding, negotiating and performing contracts. Companies shall behave ethically towards their customers, suppliers, competitors, employees, and other stakeholders. These Global Principles highlight key issues in the aerospace and defense industry that may impact on ethical business conduct. They are not an exclusive list of business ethics issues that a company may face and which companies themselves should give their staff guidance on. It is intended that the Global Principles will continue to develop over time to reflect current best practices.
Through the ICCAIA membership, a well-established and concrete relationship has been built with ASD's Japanese counterpart, SJAC. This cooperation covers the following areas: 1. Advanced manufacturing technologies (industrial robots etc. ) for rotorcraft industry ASD is closely looking at possible collaboration on R&T topics in which the European Commission should also be involved. |
