ASD Celebrates International Women's Day

  • March 8, 2018

International Women’s Day is a worldwide event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is celebrated on 8 March every year and aimed at creating a more gender inclusive world.

Gender equality in the workplace is essential for women as well as businesses to achieve their full potential. Our industry is particularly attentive to the needs of its employees and is committed to create a working environment where the skills, differences and achievements of all individuals are valued in an inclusive organisation.

However, although one key area of diversity is gender balance, the engineering sector faces particular challenges in recruiting women. This is why our members continue to research and create strategies to increase diversity, including piloted leadership development programmes, planned educational campaigns and numerous events aimed at promoting engineering opportunities for young people.

At ASD, we believe in diversity as a performance driver and a source of well-being for our employees. Having a diverse team will lead to excellent performance as it brings innovative thinking, increased engagement and employee retention. ASD is committed to promoting gender equality. I encourage everyone at all levels to get involved, follow best practices and help Europe proudly demonstrate its inclusive culture.
