European Aviation Night highlights industry's role

European aviation leaders gathered at the European Parliament to highlight the sector's €760 billion economic impact, 9.2 million jobs, and commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.

The EU Aviation Night 2025 at the European Parliament in Brussels gathered 120 policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to discuss aviation’s vital role in connecting people, supporting jobs, and driving economic growth across Europe.

Organised by Airlines for Europe (A4E), Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE), the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation Europe (CANSO), and the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), the event highlighted aviation's significant contribution to European connectivity, economic growth, and cohesion, enabling freedom of movement and seamless trade while contributing €760 billion to the EU economy and supporting 9.2 million jobs.

Aviation does more than provide travel; it supports communities by ensuring the delivery of essential goods, medical supplies, and emergency services. It also stands at the forefront of innovation, with European companies leading in the development of safer, cleaner, and more efficient aircraft. For instance, each new generation of aircraft is significantly more fuel-efficient, reducing CO₂ emissions.

The aviation industry is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, a goal requiring collaboration between industry, governments, and the European Parliament. Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) are crucial to this effort, alongside advancements in aircraft technology and air traffic management. The Destination 2050 roadmap outlines a clear path to decarbonisation while ensuring Europe remains competitive.

The event highlighted the need for ongoing dialogue to ensure that aviation continues to connect people, support communities, and drive Europe’s economy, all while meeting sustainability goals.
