The Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) welcomes Rheinmetall AG as its newest member. After unanimous approval by the ASD Board, the company’s membership of the trade association took effect on 26 April. With this, Rheinmetall has become ASD’s 20th direct member company.
Rheinmetall AG is an integrated technology group and a leading international systems provider for security technology, headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. With about 25,000 employees at 133 locations and production sites worldwide, Rheinmetall generated sales of €5.7 billion in 2021.
Jan Pie, ASD Secretary General: “Rheinmetall joining ASD as a direct member company is an important and encouraging signal as we are witnessing a historical turning point with a view to security and defence policies in Europe in general and the European defence industry in particular. Against this background, Rheinmetall’s high level of expertise in technology and its role as an important partner for European armed forces is a huge asset for the work of ASD.”
Armin Papperger, Chief Executive Officer of Rheinmetall AG: "In this challenging situation, Rheinmetall is ready and willing to assume responsibility — responsibility for meeting the security needs of Germany’s fellow EU member states, to work for a strong Europe, and to assure that the armed forces of EU and NATO nations are adequately equipped. Cooperation between companies in the aviation, space, defence and security sectors in Europe is increasingly important in this situation. We are totally committed at ASD to serving Europe in the very best way possible."
