The AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) represents the aeronautics, space, defence and security industries in Europe in all matters of common interest with the objective of promoting and supporting the competitive development of the sector. ASD's membership is composed of 15 major European aerospace and defence companies and 26 member associations in 19 countries. In 2013 over 3000 aeronautics, space and defence companies in these countries employed more than 777,000 people and generated a turnover of €197.3 billion.
With their highly skilled and dynamic workforce, comprehensive research and development programmes, and strong emphasis on innovative technology, the Aerospace and Defence industries play a pivotal role in the EU economy.
