
Communications Manager
Shape media engagement for Europe’s aerospace, security and defence industries with ASD’s international team in Brussels; apply by 5 October 2025.
ASD is looking for a dynamic and proactive Communications Manager to join our international team in Brussels. In this role, you will work closely with the team and member companies to amplify the voice of a high-tech, strategic sector. You will help shape how ASD and the European aerospace, security and defence industries engage with key stakeholders – particularly the media – contributing to ASD’s growing presence in public debates and helping to shape policy understanding and public perception across Brussels, Europe, and globally.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Strategic Communications & Media Relations, you will:
- Develop compelling media-ready narratives and materials for earned channels, coordinating with the digital team for owned-channel amplification.
- Prepare press material (releases, statements, op-eds etc.), speeches, talking points, presentations, and briefing documents.
- Organise press conferences and media roundtables, including moderating panel discussions.
- Monitor and summarise relevant political developments (EU, NATO, ICAO etc.) and media coverage.
- Handle media inquiries and interview requests; help maintain and strengthen relationships with media, partner organisations, and institutional stakeholders’ communication departments.
- Work closely with the broader ASD team and ASD members to stay informed on a broad range of policy issues and provide communications support.
- Help maintain, enhance and regularly update ASD’s internal reference documents (e.g. key messages, Q&As).
- Support communications across social media, website, publications, events, and internal channels as required.
- Manage media subscriptions and media-related sponsorship partnerships.
Profile
- University degree (Master’s level preferred) in journalism, communications, social/political sciences, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role or as a journalist.
- Strong editorial and media skills, with experience moderating panels or public discussions.
- Strong grasp of the European institutional, political and industrial landscape relevant to our sector.
- Experience with social media and basic knowledge of CMS are a plus.
- Full proficiency in English; additional European languages are an asset.
- Proactive, independent, and collaborative team player.
