The Aerospace, Security and Defence Industry Association of Europe (ASD) is looking for a proactive trade manager to join our dynamic international team in Brussels.
About ASD
Our association represents the aerospace, security and defence industries in areas of common interest with the objective of promoting and supporting the competitive development of our sector. Within ASD, the economic, legal and trade work strand focuses on the analysis of EU competitiveness policies, contracts laws and economic policy developments.
Key responsibilities
- The trade manager will monitor and analyse relevant EU and international policy and regulatory developments affecting the aerospace and defence industry.
- Monitor, assess and report on economic and trade policy developments relevant for the aeronautics, defence or security sectors.
- Support, coordinate and manage the ASD Commission responsible for Economic, Legal and Trade issues, including preparation of meetings, producing agendas, minutes of meetings, being first point of contact for members of the group; ensuring follow-up of activities between meetings.
- Coordinate with other relevant staff members and working groups of the association.
- Contribute to the preparation of position papers on trade policy and economic issues.
- Establish and maintain regular contacts with relevant EU institutions and international stakeholders, relevant trade associations and Permanent Representations in Brussels.
Your background and experience
- Master’s degree in EU law, European Affairs or Economy.
- Knowledge in trade-related issues, ideally also on commercial and competition law.
- Minimum 3 years of experience related to the EU institutional environment, or a trade association or within industry.
Skills and competencies
- Thorough understanding of the EU legislative and decision-making processes.
- Precise, analytical and contextual thinking and political sensitivity.
- Strong organisational and excellent presentation skills.
- Capacity to work independently, learn fast, be flexible and think ahead.
- Proficiency in oral English; excellent drafting and editing skills.
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Digital literacy (Microsoft Office skills).
