
Senior Environment Manager

ASD is seeking a Senior Environment Manager to lead its activities on environmental policy. The successful candidate will monitor and analyse EU and international environmental policies impacting the civil aviation/aeronautics sector, coordinate industry positions, and represent ASD in external dialogues with policymakers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse EU and international environmental, climate and energy legislation and policy initiatives (e.g. civil aviation decarbonization, EU ETS, STIP, Clean Industrial Deal, Green Deal, Sustainable Aviation Fuels, recycling).
- Follow-up strategic collaboration under Destination 2050 industry alliance for carbon neutral aviation.
- Assess the implications of such policies for the civil aviation/aeronautics industries and provide timely analyses, briefings and recommendations to members.
- Where relevant, also analyse impact on defence & security industries.
- Coordinate and draft common industry positions in response to EU consultations, legislative proposals and delegated/implementing acts.
- Coordinate ASD in interactions with the European Commission, Parliament, Council, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) and other relevant stakeholders.
- Engage with other trade associations, NGOs and stakeholders to build alliances and ensure ASD’s voice is heard in relevant debates.
- Facilitate working groups and task forces to enable members to exchange information, define common approaches, and build consensus.
- Organise and moderate meetings, workshops and conferences on environmental and sustainability topics relevant to the sector.
- Report regularly to ASD’s leadership and members on key developments and proposed actions.
Profile
- University degree (Master’s level preferred) in EU affairs, public policy, international relations, engineering, environmental sciences or related disciplines.
- At least 5–7 years of professional experience in EU policy, ideally focused on environment/climate or energy in transport or aviation.
- Strong understanding of the EU institutions, EU legislative and decision-making processes as well as international policy processes.
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into concise recommendations.
- Experience in advocacy, stakeholder management and consensus-building in a European context.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) required; additional European languages are an asset.
- Ability to work independently, while fostering cooperation across a diverse membership; good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
