La Vanguardia reports on Indra CEO's call for deeper collaboration on defence

An article for the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia highlighted the contribution to the European Defence & Security Summit in Brussels of ASD Member Indra's CEO, José Vicente de los Mozos, where he called for the European Union to foster multinational defence and security programmes supported by stable investment and greater administrative agility.

José Vicente de los Mozos emphasised that while the capability exists within European industry, structural hurdles remain. “Europe has companies with sufficient capabilities, but a gap still persists that we must overcome to achieve autonomy," he said. To close this gap, he argued it is "essential to promote multinational programmes, ensure stable investment, reduce bureaucracy, improve financing, and strengthen collaboration and innovation”.

He stressed the need to work more effectively together through large-scale "flagship programmes that help overcome the capability gap," adding, “We need to invest together”.

A central theme of his address was the need to build a future-proof workforce for the defence sector. José Vicente de los Mozos made a direct appeal to make the sector more appealing to younger generations. “We must ensure that young professionals want to work in the defence sector," he said. "We need to reach out to them and show them that we are developing the most advanced technologies in this field”.

He concluded with a message of confidence in the industry's capabilities: “if political and financial stability is maintained, the industry will know what to do” to achieve the goal of strategic autonomy for Europe’s security.
